Arriva per la prima volta in Italia (lui che è così restio alla dimensione live e ancor di più allo stress da tour) uno dei più straordinari e influenti artisti dell'ultimo decennio, lo scozzese Richard Youngs, in concerto il 10 maggio a Milano. L'appuntamento, organizzato da Die Schachtel insieme ad O', ha la particolarità di presentare il versante più sperimentale di Youngs, una lunga e articolata suite elettroacustica in dimensione live, vicina alle sonorità degli esordi.
Youngs è un poliedrico chitarrista e sperimentatore (musicista di straripante creatività ha all'attivo decine e decine di titoli, i più sperimentali su piccole label o su cd-r, e quelli più inclini a certo cantautorato avant su Jagjaguwar), dedito a lunghe incursioni nei territori di un folk sobrio e spettrale, che si protende verso vette di autentica estasi trascendente. Sostanzialmente, ha sempre usato gli stessi contenuti musicali, ma di volta in volta ha cambiato registro e argomentazioni, spostando continuamente la sua ricerca un po' più in là. Un instancabile e coltissimo esteta del suono, che ha usato folk inglese, kraut rock, minimalismo, prog, noise, space rock, canterbury, psichedelia e musica concreta per disegnare un affresco del mondo da un spiraglio situato in Scozia.
For the first time in Italy (even if he doesn't like to deal with live dimesion and tour stress), one of the most extraordinary and influent artists of the last decade, the Scotish musician Richard Youngs, will perform on May 10th in Milano.
The event, powered by Die Schachtel together with O', has the peculiarity of presenting (to present-to stage-to show-to offer...) Youngs' experimental side, a long and articulate electroacoustic suite in a live dimension, near to the sound of his beginnings.
Youngs is a poliedric guitar player and an experimental musician (he made several records, the experimental ones on little labels or on cd-r and the others published by Jagjaguwar), devoted to long incursions in the lands of a sober and spectral folk, which tends to an authentic trascendental ecstasy. Substantially he has always used the same contents, but changing language and argumentations each time, costantly moving his research a little further.
